Meet the Leadership

Lead Pastors

Joseph and Helen Fenech

Laudi

Joseph and Helen were amongst the first Maltese to be converted from Roman Catholicism to Evangelical Pentecostal Christianity. Although still in their teens they both grew steadily in the Faith and in 1983 they founded the 'Knisja Kristjana Evangelika' (Christian Evangelical Church) where Joseph served as Pastor. Under his leadership the church grew and the need for a new building was felt. The Assembly moved from a hired building in Paola to San Gwann where they bought their own church building in 1990. Joseph served in full-time ministry as the Lead Pastor of this assembly until 1994. During this period of time he also served as President of what then was known as the 'Malta Fellowship of Evangelical Churches' and as Superintendent of the 'Malta Assemblies of God.' He was instrumental in the founding of both organisations. Between 1994 and 2006 he ministered to various assemblies both locally and abroad but was not attached to any particular organisation or denomination. Then in 2008 the Lord led both him and his wife to attend the former 'Live Seed Christian Centre' now known as ‘Cornerstone Pentecostal Church where they now serve as lead pastors. Pastor Joseph ministers freely to the Body of Christ whenever opportunities arise. Both Joseph and Helen have a special calling to the whole body of believers and their passion is to equip believers, work towards unity between the various Christian Churches and encourage believers to look to God for spiritual revival upon Malta and Gozo. Pastor Joseph is an avid preacher and an able teacher of the Word of God who depends heavily on the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Helen works alongside her husband offering support and godly counsel. They were married in 1977 and have two lovely daughters, Daniela and Rachel, who both serve the Lord and three beautiful granddaughters Krista, Kimberly, and Kailey. In 2011 Pastor Joseph was once again appointed to serve as the General Superintendant of the Malta Assemblies of God at an extraordinary meeting where Paul Trementozi, who at the time was the Director of the Southern Europe of the World Assemblies of God, presided the meeting. Pastor Joseph holds this position up to the present day.

Children’s Director

Yanica Cassar

Yanica was brought up in a Roman Catholic family and became a Born again Christian when she met her husband, Ben back in 2008, and together they have two children. Since then, she started experiencing devotion to fulfilling the calling of the Lord in her community. Yanica is a full-time post-secondary school teacher for students with disabilities. She has completed her Bachelor in Psychology and furthered her studies with a Post Graduate course in Education, whereby she teaches Personal, Social, and Cognitive Development. Yanica also successfully completed the undergraduate certificate in Christian Counselling (MQF 5) with the Global Institute of Theology. Educating children has been her passion ever since and fulfilling the role of a Sunday School Director is surely just as rewarding. In view of the fact, that youngsters are our future generation, it is of great responsibility to ensure that teachers help their pupils develop and mature into exemplary Christians. Additionally, this role entails a sense of commitment and dedication towards the team of Sunday school teachers and children attending Sunday school. The primary philosophy of the Sunday school Ministry is to instill Christian values in their youths, which will ultimately reflect in their life.

Youth Leader

Estelle Buttigieg

Estelle was raised in a Christian family who had a heart for serving the Lord and this desire was planted in her heart as well. She is a very loyal and trustworthy person with a passion for youth. Estelle graduated with a B.A. in Youth and Community Studies. She worked as a voluntary youth leader for 6 years in a youth centre and as a youth worker in different projects. She continued to further her education by taking the post graduate course in teaching, ‘Personal and Social Career Development' (PSCD) in schools. She taught PSCD in secondary school and currently in primary. She also took another course, ‘Masters in Access to Education in Inclusive Schools and Communities’ which dealt with reaching out to children and youth with disability in schools and youth centres. Estelle feels the burden to reach young people with the gospel and come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus. This desire led her to join the Malta University Bible group where she participated in organising and running various activities of the Bible group on campus and also follow up activities. Currently she is fulfilling her calling by serving as the youth leader at Cornerstone Church. Through the support of the Church leadership, a team of voluntary leaders and parents, the teaching of the Word and various other activities are carried out throughout the year to enable the young people to grow in the Lord.
